Feeding Northeast Florida will be actively involved in a full-scale disaster exercise with numerous state, regional and local emergency managers, regional partners, the private sector and nonprofit organizations.
The purpose of this exercise is designed to establish a learning environment for first and second responders to exercise emergency response plans, policies, and procedures as they pertain to a response following a Category 3 hurricane. The scenario is 72 hours since a tropical storm-force winds have died down from a Category 3 hurricane. Shelters have been established, emergency supplies are coming into the region and people are seeking food and essential supplies.
As part of the exercise, Feeding Northeast Florida will receive and deliver essential commodities to impacted communities. We will synchronize logistics with local and regional Emergency Operations Centers and will operate a mobile distribution at Cecil Field for approximately 300 households.
